P shot Priapus Shot - fort mcmurray The Genomic Clinic logoThe Genomic Clinic team offers an extremely professional setting to administer the cutting edge Priapus Shot (P Shot) procedure as a clinic treatment option for erectile dysfunction.

The P-shot procedure aims to restore penile function where the underlying cause may be a reduction in organ reserve due to tissue damage. As with any organ, damage could occur as a result of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, smoking, poor diet. All of these risk factors can affect the blood vessels of any organ. The penile organ is very sensitive to some of the earliest changes that could occur. Therefore some individuals may not have any signs of chronic disease and may just be presenting with erectile dysfunction as the earliest first sign of vascular decline.

The P-shot procedure is based on the principles of PRP (Platelet-rich plasma). The length of the procedure is approximately one hour. The steps of the procedure are as follows.

  1. A blood sample is taken from the patient’s arm using standard venipuncture techniques.
  2. The blood sample is placed in a specialized machine which aims to isolate the platelets from the other cells present in the blood sample.
  3. Whilst the platelets are being extracted a local anesthetic is applied to the penis to ensure the procedure occurs in the most painless manner possible.
  4. Once the plasma has been isolated it is injected into five targeted areas of the penis. Anatomically the platelets are injected into the vascular bed of the penis using a painless technique.
  5. Once complete patients are able to leave the clinic and continue the day’s activities as normal. The procedure is extremely safe and causes minimal or no interruption to one’s activities even on the day of administration.

The P-shot procedure allows us to deliver rich platelets to an area which could benefit from the rejuvenation of blood vessels and tissue repair. The aim of this therapy is to restore function and hence treat erectile dysfunction.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Priapus Shot®?

The Priapus Shot® (P-Shot) is a safe procedure which aims to restore erectile function in individuals suffering from the debilitating effects of ED and/or penile size concerns. The P-shot helps restore function and also helps promote tissue regeneration. In many individuals, this can result in not only a restoration of erectile function but also an increase in penile volume (in particular increased girth size). The clinical rationale behind an improvement in size and thickness is likely to be due to a restoration of blood supply to the penis which may have lost volume (atrophied) as a direct result of poor supply. As with any organ restoration or enhancement of blood supply can only have a positive impact on the organ’s reserve and hence function.

Is the priapus shot safe?

Our bodies very rarely react to themselves, except in circumstances where there is an abnormal autoimmune disease state. The P-shot utilizes a safe technique to reintroduce platelets ( your body’s own tissue) into an area which is likely to be underserved with respect to the rich stimulatory components of plasma. Providing a concentrated isolate which is rich in products which can stimulate new blood vessel growth in a safe manner is a huge benefit offered by this therapy.

Even the actual procedure of administering the injections carries very little risk with most patients experiencing nothing more than mild skin irritation and temporary bruising or mild swelling.

How is the P-Shot performed?

Patients are normally in the clinic for no longer than one and a half hours.

PRP (platelet rich plasma) is placed in a centrifuge to separate the various constituents like white and red blood cells. From the remaining cells, we can isolate the layer containing the platelets and concentrate it to develop our sample.

The procedure is simple and only demands a small needle to obtain the blood needed for the procedure from the arm. The separation and concentration of PRP are painless and takes a matter of minutes to produce a usable quantity.

Once a concentrated solution of PRP is isolated, this is injected into the anesthetized penis. The solution is distributed to 5 areas which are mostly to benefit from an improved blood supply.

What is the aim of the Priapus Shot?

Clinical studies report variable benefits from the Priapus shot therapy are variable but include:

  • Increased strength of erections enhancing the ability to have penetrative intercourse
  • Improved sensitivity and ability to initiate and maintain erections
  • Increase in penile size and girth due to enhanced blood flow

When will I notice the results?

All patients are individual. In our experience and reported results from other clinical studies it normally takes 6-8 weeks to notice any positive results which may occur as a direct result of the P-shot procedure. Alongside any positive results which can be expected from this therapy, we strongly advocate mitigation of other vascular risk factors such as smoking, poor diet, poorly controlled hypertension and diabetes, to improve the chances of success.

How many treatments are required?

Most patients only require one treatment to achieve good results. In circumstances where there are underlying chronic disease conditions which are likely to impact the vascular system, we may recommend a repeat injection at a future point but this is very much on a case by case basis.

Can the P-shot be used for maintaining strong erections where one doesn’t have ED?

Whilst our focus is primarily on addressing clinical conditions like ED and micropenis some of our patients do opt to have the treatment for more aesthetic purposes or maintenance purposes.
